Project History
Here is the record of SACIC accomplishments:
Business Projects:
- Business financial support programs (two unique to the Sylvania Area and the only programs in the region).
- Constructed water and sanitary sewer projects at a cost of $7.5 million.
- Performed a community studies to assist the schools, township, and city, and to improve the quality of life. The major projects were:
- Two school studies.
- Numerous land use plans and zoning matters.
- Community recreation study.
- Community service organization study.
- Consolidation of township/city services.
Community Projects:
- Assisted community projects with both manpower and funds. The major efforts were:
- Formation of the Sylvania Area Recreation District.
- Formation of the Sister City Committee.
- Area hotel for the downtown Sylvania area.
- Centennial Terrace.
- Heritage Village.
- Fossil Park.
- Huntington Community Center (Sylvania Area Family Services Center).
- Developed business areas with utilities which consist of over 280 acres and have a total of over eighty (80) companies (three in partnership with private sector and two with SACIC).
- Assisted hundreds of new and expanding companies in the Sylvania area to ensure an expanding tax base and stable local business climate.
